Short Film 'It's Just Food'
This short movie is about a boy who is poor and has no food to eat. He begs for food at
streets but gets nothing. Once, he tries to steal food but gets caught and
beaten. Then he thinks what he can do to help the poor people. He thinks that he
can do small things. By feeding them, they can feel happy. Because after all,
it’s just food. Which connects back to the title of the film ‘It’s just food.’
I watched this film and found it a bit strange and simplistic. It looked like it was part of a student film project. The message of the film seemed to be "Find some poor people and give them food. Then, they will be happy and you can be satisfied in yourself." I've been to India and that approach can only go so far. A person would easily run out of food and money in a short time distributing to the poor and destitute on the streets of Mumbai or Delhi. There needs to be a more organized approach to dealing with hunger, as we learned from the 2nd Harvest Japan lecture.
